This mini-interview with the talented Pepa Prieto is from our awesome friend Jacqueline Bos from Portland!
Pepa Prieto is a multidisciplinary artist working in Madrid. She has exhibited internationally and has a breathtaking portfolio of both client and personal work. Just finishing a residency in Miami along with a bit of traveling, new works are surely on the way. Her work is a mix of illustration, painting, and magical energy, I’m always excited to see what she has to share with us. Pepa was sweet enough to take some time and chat with me about her inspiration, work, and life, check out the interview below.  - Jacqueline
Jacqueline:  If you could collaborate with anyone (living or dead) who would make up the other half of your dream collaboration?
Pepa:  With a dead Artist I think I would chose Francisco de Goya in his latest work the Black paintings and if I had to choose a living Artist Dean Monogenis a painter from N.Y.
Jacqueline:  What is a typical day for you like? How much time do you actually get to spend making things?
Pepa: If I am traveling around , my life gets a bit crazy but I basically go  always around with my sketch book, paints, pens my little camera and my laptop….
When I am in my studio my routine is of work the whole day, paint, draw….answer mails and think……so I am all the time working I just can´t make it in a different way…
Jacqueline:  When you have a day off, what would make it a perfect day?
Pepa:  A day with good friends/ family near the sea or the mountains….nature.
Jacqueline: I see that you have a wide range of art media, from prints, to paintings. Do you have a favorite way of working?
Pepa:  Not   really I just enjoy working in different things as it keeps me going…but I am now going to focus on painting…..
Jacqueline: How do you gather your inspiration materials? Are they found objects? Digital images? Magic?
Pepa:  I think everything makes the whole….I get inspiration from every small thing and then magic comes in …its a mixing pot.

Jacqueline:  If you could go on a month long trip around the world, where would you visit and what would you do?
Pepa:  I would try to take more than a month hahahha…three months sounds better for me and this is what I normally try to do…..and maybe Asia could be my next trip…I just need to travel…

Jacqueline:  Do you have any artwork hanging on the walls in your studio?
Pepa:  Yes , I hang art work then I get fed up and take it back down……
Jacqueline: Cold weather or warm weather?
Pepa:  Snow, warm weather, rain….it all the depends on the moment….
 Jacqueline:  Favorite animal to draw?
Pepa:  unmmmmm a bearfoxbirdhuman-ameba……
Jacqueline:  Any upcoming shows, news, or things you’d like to let us know about?
Pepa:  I am maybe having a solo show in Miami around November , I am working in some art for a  Vinyl cover……but my biggest project now is to tie my self to my studio and paint the whole summer.
I just arrived from to really busy months… I spend two months in an Artist residency in Miami then I went to N.Y and Greece so its time to get a bit of studio work….and silence….
